Prophet Isa (Jesus)
Isa (peace be upon him), known in English as Jesus, is one of the great prophets of Islam. Muslims love and respect him. The Quran calls him the son of Maryam (Mary), and one chapter of the Quran is named after her.
The Quran tells that Maryam had him without a father, by the will of Allah, and that he spoke as a baby in the cradle. Allah gave him a book, the Injil (the Gospel), and he called his people to worship Allah alone. Muslims believe that he was not killed or crucified, but that Allah raised him up to Himself, and that he will come back near the end of time.
His return is part of the story of Gog and Magog, told by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in a hadith recorded in Sahih Muslim: the believers take refuge with Isa on a mountain and pray to Allah, and Allah answers their prayer.
